Everything you need to know about keeping, sharing and protecting care records.
Not at all. Many people use it for their own health — keeping track of medicines, doctors and appointments. It’s equally useful for parents, partners, adult children, support workers and anyone who helps look after someone.
Yes. You can create as many care records as you need — one for each person you look after, including yourself. Each record has its own 16 sections and its own sharing settings.
Yes. From any record you own, open “Share” and invite someone by email. Once they sign in with that email they can view and add to every section. They cannot delete the record or change who has access — only the owner can do that, and you can revoke access at any time.
They’ll receive an email invitation. As soon as they create a free account using the same email address, the shared record will appear in their “My records” list, marked “Shared with me”.
No. Personal Care Records is an organisational tool for keeping information in one place. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always follow the guidance of qualified health professionals, and in an emergency call your local emergency number.
Records are designed to change with life. Update a medicine dose and the change is logged automatically. Mark conditions as resolved, stop medicines, add new clinicians or remove carers’ access whenever you need to. Nothing is fixed in stone.
Records are only visible to their owner and the people the owner has explicitly invited. Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), every change is recorded in an activity log, and you are signed out automatically after a period of inactivity. You can delete a record — or your whole account and all its data — at any time.
No. Personal Care Records is free to use, with no subscription and no paywall.

Personal Care Records was built by a family caring for their daughter, who lives with severe cerebral palsy and complex medical needs. After years of repeating her story at every appointment and juggling paperwork, they built the tool they wished they’d had — and made it free for everyone.
